We have already seen two of these seasonal regimes for rainy &amp; autumn season respectively. Now it\u2019s time for <strong>Hemant Rutu (Winter\/ Fall winter)<\/strong>. This season is considered from <strong>Mid November to Mid January<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Changes In Hemant Rutu?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Atmosphere becomes cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Pores of skin &amp; blood vessels get constricted, due to the effect of cold. It prevents heat loss from the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Digestive fire (Agni) gets trapped in the body like in a closed chamber &amp; becomes strong, resulting into increased appetite &amp; digestion. Hence the strength &amp; immunity of the body also increases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-The nights are longer than day, resulting in increased early morning hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; If the adequate amount &amp; quality of food is not taken in this season, increased appetite &amp; digestion process absorbs the intrinsic fluids &amp; elements of the body. Lifestyle modification if not done right then disturbs the overall health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the easy diet &amp; lifestyle modifications that will enable you to enjoy this healthy season;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Diet in Hemant Rutu<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DO\u2019S:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food mainly of <strong>sour, salty &amp; sweet taste <\/strong>like sugarcane juice, jaggery etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unctuous food<\/strong> like <strong>Ghee &amp; sesame oil<\/strong>, coconut oil etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Milk &amp; milk products: <\/strong>milk, buttermilk, butter,curd, ghee &amp; delicacies made from milk like <strong>Kheer, Phirani, Basundi<\/strong> etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cereals:<\/strong> dishes made of newly harvested <strong>Rice &amp; wheat.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pulses: <\/strong>black gram, peas,horse gram, green gram etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vegetables: <\/strong>Onion, cabbage, flower, bottle gourd, ivy gourd, drum sticks, sweet potato, potato, radish, carrot &amp; beetroot.Dishes like Carrot Halwa<strong> (Gajar ka halwa) <\/strong>made in cow ghee can be relished upon in this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fruits: <\/strong>all seasonal fruits, apple, chikoo, banana, guava, pomegranate, oranges<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dry fruits: <\/strong>dates, pistachios, cashews, almond, figs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nonveg: <\/strong>soups cooked by using ghee &amp; roasted meat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Water : warm water <\/strong>should be used for drinking throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DONT\u2019S:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intake of<strong> food in inadequate quantity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drinking<strong> cold water &amp; <\/strong>other <strong>cold drinks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eating<strong> cold, stale, refrigerated food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eating<strong> spicy &amp; fermented food.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lifestyle In Hemant Rutu<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DO\u2019S:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This season is best to restore your bodily strength &amp; gain some new for the coming seasons. So, do the <strong>Exercise, Pranayam &amp; Yoga daily.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whole body &amp; head massage daily <\/strong>with warm oil followed by applying<strong> Ubtan <\/strong>(Light powder massage) before bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use hot water for bathing<\/strong> &amp; for other chores throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keep the house warm<\/strong>; spend time in inner rooms of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wear <strong>warm clothes<\/strong>, use of proper <strong>sweaters, winter caps, socks &amp; shoes <\/strong>etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beds, seats should be covered with <strong>thick sheets, quilts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunbath<\/strong> can be enjoyed throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DONT\u2019S:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daytime sleep<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sleeping late in the night<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exposure to cold winds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though Ayurveda has suggested different seasonal regimes for each season it also advocates shifting from one regime to another gradually because any abrupt change in diet &amp; lifestyle can sometimes cause health issues. So, play your favorite sports, do some exercise, eat plenty &amp; healthy.
