Ayurveda always gives utmost important to diet &amp; lifestyle in its both preventive &amp; therapeutic ways. We have seen lifestyle of a pregnant woman in our last blog now let\u2019s see what Ayurveda says about diet of a pregnant woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do\u2019s-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Warm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh, clean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easy to digest food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Desirable food enriched with all tastes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Milk, Ghee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food should be unctuous<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don\u2019ts-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Drinking alcohol, smoking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fasting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overeating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy to digest food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food causing indigestion and hyperacidity like fast foods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unclean food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Too much non vegetarian diet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MONTHWISE REGIME FOR PREGNANT WOMAN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(This regime is explained in one of the prime treatise of Ayurveda called \u201cCharaksamhita\u201d. It should be followed under the supervision of Ayurvedic Doctor)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Acharya Charaka have explained the monthly regime to be adopted in steadily developing, normal pregnancy as following;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First month <\/strong>non medicated cold milk should be given at regular intervals, nourishing meal should be eaten twice a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Second month<\/strong> milk processed with sweet tasting drugs should be taken as needed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Third month <\/strong>milk along with honey &amp; ghee should be taken<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fourth month <\/strong>milk along with 1 Aksha (10-12gm) of butter should be taken<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fifth month <\/strong>milk along with ghee should be consumed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sixth month <\/strong>milk with ghee processed with sweet tasting drugs should be taken<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seventh month <\/strong>milk with ghee processed with sweet tasting drugs should be taken as like sixth month.Pregnant women should eat sweet-tasting food which is light on oil, fat &amp; salt. She should drink less water immediately after the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eight month <\/strong>pregnant woman should take gruel with milk &amp; mixed with ghee in all her meals in their proper times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ninth month <\/strong>In the ninth month advice has been given about treating pregnant woman with Anuvasana Basti (unctuous enema) and Pichudharan (keeping a cotton swab soaked in the oil in her genital tract) in order to normalize the delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acharya specifies that if these dietary regimen are followed right from the first month of pregnancy to the ninth month, it strengthens &amp; softens the entire child-bearing region of the woman\u2019s body- including her womb, waist, sides of pelvis &amp; her, urine &amp; stool pass smoothly, skin &amp; nails becomes soft, her strength &amp; complexion improves &amp; the woman delivers the child effortlessly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As they say, \u201cWe Are What We Eat\u201d, same applies for the mother to be &amp; her precious child to be born.
